Crossfit is a great way to transform your body, while having fun at the same time. You will make friends, build muscle, and learn a lot about fitness. But just like any activity there are certain guidelines you should follow when introducing your body to your new routine. While there are plenty of participants that are willing to help, we would like to give you some tips to safely introduce yourself to CrossFit.

Perfect Your Form
The way you move your body is imperative to keeping yourself not only safe, but to ensure that you are actually getting what you need out of an exercise. After time, your muscle memory will take over and you wont have to think about your form so much.

Start Small
You will want to fully jump into CrossFit, it isn’t a good idea to jump in head first. Even for athletes, we don’t recommend overdoing yourself the first time in the Box. Rather we want you to push yourself and work hard within your particular ability level, remember many of the people participating in CrossFit have been doing it for a while. Similarly take some time between your first sessions and let your body recover.

If you are unsure about anything, speak up. If your workout is too much, you’re not sure if your form is right, or if you are just looking for advice, open your mouth and ask. We won’t bite…hard. We were all beginners at one point, and love to see other people succeed.

So while CrossFit may present its challenges, so can any sport. Just remember to focus on form, intensity, and learning and we know you will do just fine. Of course you can always come down to our Hampton, Virginia CrossFit gym, as we are always happy to help.
