For people that are serious about being a top CrossFit competitor or continually pushing their fitness to the next level for any other reason, any opportunity to exercise is a good one. And while our Hampton facility provides no end of ways to get in shape, we understand that not everybody can make it in as often as they would like. For many, working out at home is a viable option to maintain peak fitness and challenge the body. Here are some ideas for setting up a functional gym in your own home.

Exercise Equipment

There are many easy and affordable ways to exercise at home. A simple chin-up bar, for example, is a snap to install and provides you with a multitude of different exercises. Free weights or a barbell and bench can be expensive if you buy new, but you may be able to find a deal on a used weight set. A jump rope is also a great way to challenge your cardiovascular endurance without leaving the home. And exercises like squats, push-ups, sit-ups, and yoga require no equipment at all.

Making Room For Your Fitness Studio

You’re going to need to decide which area of your home offers the best space for your workouts. A spare bedroom, unused garage, or unfinished basement are all great choices. Keep the area open and clear of clutter, allowing you plenty of room to move around during your exercise sessions. Adding full-length mirrors to one wall can also open the space up while allowing you to monitor your form as you work out.

With a little effort, you can create a workout space in your Hampton home that will help you get the job done. And when you’re ready to put your physical fitness to a serious test, come see us at CrossFit Stimulus!
