Athlete of the Week: Lindsay Strickland
When & where did you start doing CrossFit?
In the very first jump start class at Stimulus in August 2013.
Favorite WOD or exercise? Squats! I mean that’s how you get a shelf booty right?!
Least Favorite WOD or exercise? Squat Snatch or pistols
Favorite Lift? Deadlift
Least favorite lift? Concerning I have hips like a 94 year old lady (Matt can confirm), I would have to say the Squat Snatch.
Favorite hobbies outside of CrossFit? Kickball, softball, Dodgeball (yes I do play in an adult league..do not judge), and anything pertaining to my nephews and niece.
What is your profession? Human Resources Specialist for Riverside Rehabilitation Institute
What were your thoughts after your first CrossFit workout? Do I really have to wait until Wednesday to come back?!
What are your short term and long-term CrossFit goals? Short term goal was to compete in a competition, which just happened the week end of January 17 at Team Grit with my amazing partner Emily (we both started jump start together!). Long term would be to complete all WODs RX.
What are some of your greatest achievements inside the gym? Pull ups without a band and never giving up.
How has CrossFit affected your life outside the Gym? I have met a lot amazing people from the gym who have turned into some of my best friends. Being healthy/working out is a lifestyle not a phase. Seeing results=feeling better about yourself=being a happier person all around.
What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit Stimulus?
Don’t give up. “We all started from the bottom, but now we’re here!”
Your favorite cheat meal is? Ice cream
A fun fact about me is? I use to drive racecars and I’m actually a bookworm when I do have the time.
